By Michelle Lynn Senters-

Writers use “love” as a central theme in many stories because it is a common human experience. Think about ways in which you have seen or experienced love. What have you learned? What is important to you? What does your heart long for?

ACTIVITY

  1. Explore the photos below. How is love shown in each of the relationships?
  2. Choose a photograph that inspires you.
  3. Write in response to the photo in one of the following ways:
  • ESSAY: Write an essay about the love depicted in the photo. What does it mean to you? What have you witnessed? What have you experienced? What do you hope for?
  • SHORT STORY: Write a short fiction story about the kind of love depicted in the photo.

  4. Hi! I’m Hosanna and I am 13 years old.
I chose picture number 5 ( the picture of the family).
    Here it is:
There once was a family whose name was the White’s. Mr. White ( Joseph) and Mrs. White ( Jenny) had two children, Amy and Cedar. The White family invited Mr. White’s parents ( John and Elizabeth) to live with them. They accepted. Amy and Cedar had never lived close to their relatives and they became very excited! The Grandparents finally moved in, after what seemed like forever to their two grandchildren! Amy and Cedar loved the time that they got to spend with their grandparents! The whole family loved having them there to celebrate special events like Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and all the other special holiday’s through out the year! The family’s favorite holiday is Thanksgiving! Each Thanksgiving day, Amy and Cedar thank God for their parents, sibling and grandparents but most of all they are thankful that God has allowed them to be a family!
    Hope you enjoyed it!

  5. Mrs. Michelle,Thank you so much for correcting my errors. I actually write poems and this is my first time writing stories. So I will look up formatting and what not. I’m so sorry for any trouble my entry has caused.

    • You didn’t cause trouble, Raven! It is my job to encourage you to be the BEST writer you can be. The story your submitted was excellent. You are a gifted writer and I will encourage and teach you along the way. Don’t give up or be discouraged. You have something to say!
